Oahu Duck Tours

See the sights of Honolulu in a 7.5 ton duck. That's right, a duck. Well, not exactly. These unique vehicles are called DUKW, and were developed during World War II to be used as amphibious landing crafts that could deliver cargo from ships to sea to the shore. That means they are able to travel on both land and water. About the only thing they can't do is fly. Duck Tours picks up passengers between 8 and 9 a.m. in Waikiki and at Honolulu Harbor, where guests ride the Duck to the Arizona Memorial to watch footage of the Pearl Harbor attack, and then continue to ride the duck out to the USS Arizona Memorial, which is entombed on the harbor floor.

The captain of the Duck provides you with fascinating travelogue as the enormous vehicle takes off for Sand Island and one incredible splash down in the lagoon. The Duck even sounds off its own duck call as it slides easily into the water with grace. The land part of the tour goes through some of Honolulu's most historic districts, past the 'Iolani Palace, the State Capitol, the King Kamehameha Statue and other landmarks. All together, the tour lasts about 5.5 hours.

Duck Tours also provides a snorkel tour, which takes visitors out to Koko Marina, one of the most popular water sport destinations on the island. Spend a few hours relaxing, shopping and enjoying the sights of the Koko Marina area, and don't forget to use your provided snorkel equipment. Along the way back to Waikiki you will experience a fully narrated thirty minute ocean cruise in the Maunalua Bay before the duck climbs out of the sea. Next you'll travel with the duck along the famous Diamond Head Road along the shoreline and through the luxurious Kahala district before returning to your original location.

The Duck Tour is a great choice for travelers of any age, and is one of the most unique ways to see the island. Children and adults alike will love splashing down into the beautiful waters and feeling the cool island breezes. All Ducks are handicapped accessible, and a No-host lunch is available on both tours. The duck also is covered, so you will not need to worry if it starts to rain during your tour. In fact, rain is considered to be good luck in Hawaii. If you are wanting to get a good glimpse of all of Oahu's diverse terrains, both aquatic and land, a tour with Duck Tours is an excellent choice.
